I enjoy working with authors and editing their texts. I've been doing this since 1982.
From 1982 to 1997, I was writing and editing in Japan where I worked with many ESL writers.
After I returned to the United States in 1997, I began working with every type of writer: academic, scientific, financial, student, journalist, creative writer, and others.
On all projects, I follow my clients’ specifications and meet all deadlines.
I return an edited copy with all changes clearly indicated (tracked changes are in red).
I also provide numerous comments and suggestions. I then follow up promptly on all e-mail messages to resolve any pending issues.
The free edit option is always on, so you can see what I can do and I can see what you need to do.
My availability is seven days a week. I live in the Eastern Time Zone (North Carolina) and typically start my day at 6:00 a.m. and then edit until the day's work is done. I look forward to working with you.
I can make your writing more concise, more professional, more creative, and more effective in its purpose, whether English is not your native language and it needs an overhaul, or you are talented and it could just use a bit of polish. Having edited over 5000 documents and more than 100 novels, my experience covers a broad range. From science, paranormal, and contemporary fiction to memoirs, how-to books, children's lit, ad copy, personal statements and theses, I have a passion for making your writing the best it can be. I understand, too, that the writer-editor relationship needs to be a good fit. I'm happy to do a sample edit to help you determine whether I am the right person for your project. Thanks for your consideration.
Studied philosophy at the undergraduate level in Canada and at the graduate level in England. In 1977, I qualified as a secondary school teacher from the Cambridge Institute of Education, Cambridge University. During the 1980s I was a contributing editor for Today's Parent, Canada's leading parenting magazine, and I have published numerous articles, reviews and letters, including two short letters in The Economist, the next best thing to winning a Pulitzer. Now semi-retired, I spend some of my time teaching Microsoft Word to seniors, most of whom are younger than me.
