Security and Confidentiality at Editor World
Your documents are protected at every stage
256-bit SSL encryption | NDA-signed editors | No AI tools | No third-party sharing | Confidentiality guaranteed
When you submit a document to Editor World, you're sharing work that may represent months or years of research, unpublished findings, proprietary business strategy, or deeply personal writing. We take that responsibility seriously. This page explains exactly how Editor World protects your documents, your data, and your intellectual property at every stage of the editing process.
Who This Page Is For
Security and confidentiality matter differently depending on what you're submitting. The protections described here apply to every client and every document type, but some are particularly relevant to specific groups:
- Academic researchers submitting unpublished manuscripts who need assurance that their findings won't be shared, disclosed, or used before publication.
- PhD students and graduate researchers whose dissertations contain original, unpublished work that represents the core of their scholarly contribution.
- Business professionals submitting investor communications, strategic plans, proprietary reports, or confidential client-facing materials.
- Legal and medical professionals submitting documents that may contain sensitive information about clients, patients, or cases.
- Authors submitting unpublished manuscripts who need assurance that their creative work is protected before publication.
- ESL researchers from institutions in countries where intellectual property protections are a specific concern for international journal submission.
256-Bit SSL Encryption
Every file you upload to Editor World and every file your editor returns to you is transmitted through 256-bit SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption. This is the same encryption standard used by major financial institutions and government agencies worldwide. It means that your document is encrypted in transit from the moment you upload it to the moment it arrives in your Client Console after editing.
SSL encryption prevents any third party from intercepting your document during transmission. Your manuscript, its contents, and any instructions you provide to your editor are protected from the point of upload through the point of download.
NDA-Signed Editors
Every editor on the Editor World panel has signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before being granted access to client documents. The NDA prohibits editors from:
- Disclosing the existence of a client's document to any third party
- Sharing, reproducing, or distributing any portion of a client's document
- Discussing the content of a client's document with any person outside the Editor World platform
- Using any content from a client's document for any purpose other than editing
- Retaining copies of client documents after the editing engagement is complete
This NDA is a binding legal agreement, not a policy statement. Every editor who joins the Editor World panel signs it as a condition of joining. There are no exceptions.
If you need your editor to sign an additional NDA provided by your institution, employer, or legal counsel, contact your editor directly through the internal messaging system before submitting. Many editors are willing to sign client-provided NDAs for an additional layer of documented confidentiality protection.
Intellectual Property Protection
Your document remains entirely your intellectual property throughout the editing process and after it. Editor World makes no claim to any content, ideas, findings, arguments, creative work, or other material contained in documents submitted to the platform. Submitting a document to Editor World for editing does not transfer, license, or encumber your intellectual property rights in any way.
This matters particularly for:
- Unpublished research manuscripts. Your findings, methodology, and conclusions are yours. The editing process improves how they're expressed in English. It creates no claim on what they say or mean.
- Creative works. Your story, characters, voice, and narrative are yours. An editor improving your prose creates no copyright interest in the work.
- Business documents. Your strategy, client relationships, financial projections, and proprietary processes remain confidential. They are not used, referenced, or retained after editing is complete.
- Grant applications and funding proposals. Your research plans and funding strategy are yours. They are not shared with any person or organization outside the editing relationship.
No AI Tools at Any Stage
Editor World uses no AI writing tools, AI grammar checkers, AI paraphrasing tools, or automated processing systems at any stage of the editing process. This matters for confidentiality in two ways.
First, AI tools process text through external servers and systems, creating data exposure risks that don't exist in a fully human editing process. When a document is run through an AI grammar checker or AI writing assistant, its content is transmitted to and processed by that tool's servers. Editor World's fully human editing process means your document is never processed by any external AI system.
Second, many journals that require a certificate of editing specifically require human native English editing, not AI-assisted editing. A certificate of editing from a service that uses AI tools doesn't satisfy this requirement. Editor World's certificate of editing accurately confirms what it states: your manuscript was reviewed entirely by a qualified human native English editor, with no AI tools involved.
No Third-Party Sharing
Editor World does not share, sell, license, or otherwise transfer your document or its contents to any third party for any purpose. Your document is accessible only to you, your chosen editor, and Editor World's administrative staff where access is necessary for platform operation. It is not shared with other editors, other clients, partner organizations, advertisers, or any other external party.
Editor World does not use client documents as training data for AI systems, as examples in marketing materials, or as demonstration content for any purpose without explicit written consent from the client. Testimonials and reviews displayed on Editor World's website are provided voluntarily by clients and never include document content.
Secure Payment Processing
All payments on the Editor World platform are processed through Stripe, one of the world's leading payment security platforms. Editor World does not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details on its servers. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure. Stripe holds PCI Service Provider Level 1 certification, the highest level of payment security certification available.
PayPal is also available as a payment option. PayPal's security infrastructure is independently maintained and does not expose your financial information to Editor World's systems.
Document Storage and Retention
Documents submitted to Editor World are stored securely in your Client Console for your reference and download. Your editor accesses your document through the platform for the purpose of editing. After the editing engagement is complete, your editor is required by the NDA to delete any copies of your document retained outside the platform.
You can download your original and edited documents from your Client Console at any time. If you would like your documents removed from the platform, contact Editor World's support team through the contact page and we will confirm the deletion of your files.
Confidentiality for Sensitive Document Types
Unpublished Research Manuscripts
Research manuscripts submitted before journal acceptance are among the most confidentiality-sensitive documents Editor World handles. Priority one is your prior publication right: your findings must not be disclosed before you've had the opportunity to publish them. Editor World's NDA framework, no-sharing policy, and no-AI-tools commitment are designed specifically to protect unpublished research. Your findings are reviewed by one native English editor who is bound by NDA, processed on no external system, and shared with no other party.
Dissertations and Theses
A doctoral dissertation represents years of original research. It contains unpublished findings, theoretical contributions, and methodological innovations that constitute a researcher's primary scholarly claim. Editor World treats dissertations with the same confidentiality protections as journal manuscripts: NDA-bound editor, no AI processing, no third-party sharing, and no retention of copies after editing is complete.
Legal Documents
Legal documents submitted to Editor World for editing may contain confidential information about clients, cases, proceedings, or strategies. Editor World's NDA framework applies fully to legal documents. If your jurisdiction or institution requires additional confidentiality documentation before submitting legal materials for editing, contact us before submitting and we'll arrange the appropriate documentation with your editor.
Medical and Clinical Documents
Clinical research documents, patient case reports, and medical manuscripts may contain protected health information or commercially sensitive clinical trial data. Editor World's confidentiality framework applies fully to medical documents. Editors working on clinical documents are bound by NDA and are required to treat patient-related information with the same confidentiality as any other document content.
Business and Corporate Documents
Business documents submitted to Editor World may contain proprietary strategy, confidential financial information, unreleased product information, or sensitive client-facing materials. Editor World's no-sharing policy and NDA framework apply fully to business documents. If your organization requires a corporate NDA or data processing agreement before submitting confidential business materials, contact us and we'll work with you to put the appropriate documentation in place.
