I have a B.A. in English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh, with a focus on journalism. In addition to freelancing for a local newspaper for several years, I also have 17 years of experience as a technical writer/editor in the science and research industry. In that role, I often review/format/edit highly scientific papers that make no sense to me. However, I have the ability to make them read "good."
Knowledge of the topic isn't a requirement; in fact, sometimes it is a hinderance. Going into a document without prior understanding of the subject requires enhanced focus, leading to a better product at conclusion.
