I have enjoyed working with authors and editing their texts since 1982.
I have also had the good fortune of spending 15 years (1982–1997) writing and editing in Japan and in subsequent years working with many ESL writers.
Now in the United States, I have worked on behalf of every type of writer: academic, scientific, financial, student, journalist, creative writer, and others.
For all projects, I follow my clients’ specifications and meet all deadlines. I return an edited copy with all changes clearly indicated (i.e., tracked changes in red) and provide numerous comments and suggestions. I also follow up promptly on all e-mail messages to resolve any pending issues. My availability is seven days a week to meet my clients' needs. I live in the Eastern Time Zone (North Carolina) and typically start my day at 6:00 a.m. and then edit until the day's work is done. I look forward to working with you, and thank you for entrusting your documents to me.
Studied philosophy at the undergraduate level in Canada and at the graduate level in England. In 1977, I qualified as a secondary school teacher from the Cambridge Institute of Education, Cambridge University. During the 1980s I was a contributing editor for Today's Parent, Canada's leading parenting magazine, and I have published numerous articles, reviews and letters, including two short letters in The Economist, the next best thing to winning a Pulitzer. Now semi-retired, I spend some of my time teaching Microsoft Word to seniors, most of whom are younger than me.

I'm a highly experienced editor, copyeditor, and proofreader with more than a decade of experience in a variety of editorial and educational settings, including academic and literary journals, higher education institutions, and the corporate world. I'm a certified editor with the International Association of Professional Writers and Editors. I provide clients with extensive line edits on each document, as well as more general suggestions about structure, organization, and clarity. I've worked with undergraduate and graduate students on their writing at high-level universities, and I also have significant experience working with International students and ESL clients. I've published fiction, nonfiction, and scholarly work, and I've edited all of those professionally as well. I'm available for small projects with a quick turnaround, but I'm also very excited to work on longer projects, such as dissertations, chapters from nonfiction manuscripts, or long pieces of fiction, including novels. I have a passion for the written word and I'm excited to work with you to make your writing the best that it can be.
I am an editor with over 25 years' experience with copyediting books, magazines, newspapers, thesis papers, journals, and the Internet. I am fast, accurate, and have a passion for helping you find the perfect word, sentence, and paragraph to help communicate your ideas, without changing your voice. Whether it is your essay, fiction book, thesis paper, blog, article -- just about any medium that requires the written word -- I will make you sound clear and concise. My editing skills are backed with extensive experience in substantive and developmental editing, writing, page layout and design, photography, and prepress. Further, I am familiar with APA, MLA, AP, AIP, and the Chicago manuals of style.
